Mode of action

The QuAsil-sealing pellets QP15A is applied as loose pellets or in the swelling tubes QuAsil-20-800. Since the product is completely harmless for humans when being processed, the usual protective measures are not necessary. The pellets are nearly unlimited durable if dry storage is provided. The high water transformation factor = 1:300, means that 1ltr. pellets transforms 300 ltr. water into a sealant. This can be used to fill small amounts of pellets into large cavities to protect against pressing water in an economic way. The dry pellets transform to a sealant when in contact with water and presses itself, due to the swelling pressure, into the building structure so that even the smallest cracks, pores etc. are sealed. Not only the joint area when sealing the joints or cracks is waterproofed but also the bordering building elements are injected. Therefore no pressing water can outset from the waterproofed joint through micro cracks in the stone/ concrete.

The difficulty to seal rough masonry or concrete against smooth plastic pipes is always a topic on construction sides. If thermal expansion of pipes (e.g. due to warm water) occurs, it gets complicated in many cases. This is no problem with our swelling tubes because the sealing gel adapts itself close to the pipe surface so that no water gets through. Even strong movements don´t lead to leaks.

The processing temperatures are between -20 and 40-50 degree Celsius.

Pressing water up to 30 bar cannot penetrate into the waterproofed building structure that was sealed with QuAsil.

The sealing gel can turn back into pellets. If it is hot and there is no more water then the gel emits water. The original pellets form itself again. This pellets remain in the construction structure like a sleeper agent, but as soon as the water appears it reacts within seconds to the sealing gel and stops the water. This interplay can take place several thousand times without reducing the effect of the sealing.


Pipe feedthroughs/ house service connections

As the swelling tubes are extremely flexible the wall openings can have every form, not only circular but also angular cavities are possible. Even multiple pipes or cables/ cable housings through one wall opening can be sealed. Every cable or pipe just needs to be wrapped by swelling tubes, the remaining openings are filled with mortar. Therefore, also sealing combinations of cable bundles/ pipes/ steel profiles is possible.
